biography
Angela has been taking photographs for 15 years. Her interest started when she enrolled on a Media Arts Foundation course at Portsmouth University (England) in 1994. She then went on to complete the degree but was more interested in photography than film. During this time she had a small card business which involved handmade all occasion cards which were sold in a Portsmouth gift shop.
After graduating in 1998, Angela worked on board cruise lines for the next few years shooting formal portraits, social events, weddings and travel/scenic. Her work took her to Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, Europe, Caribbean, Bahamas and East/West coast of the United States.
In 2001 Angela moved to London and worked at a professional studio and lab, where she was a hand photographic printer. This included printing fashion images or portraits for various magazines which included Marie Claire and Vogue. During this time she developed her own fashion portfolio and shot some work for various hairdressers and models, making use of the studio and darkroom. She also carried on with portraiture, shooting professional studio headshots and creative portraits for a Latvian artist.
Angela was still passionate about travel and had a memorable trip around Morocco where she shot some of her favorite images.
In late 2002 Angela uprooted and moved to Sydney, Australia. During this time she carried on shooting professional portraits for an actor and fashion for an up and coming Stylist.
In the last 2 years Angela’s work has taken on a new direction in the form of Impressionist Art Photography. Angela likes to shoot flowers or landscape in such a way that once printed on canvas, the image looks like a painting. So far she has created 6 series and is also interested in Abstract work.
Angela has always been interested in insects and she is currently developing a series of work capturing insects up close and personal!
